Power is dirty, really?<\/b><\/p>\n

In this new edition of Info Suisse, I want to discuss subjects that fascinate and really resonate with me: influence, power, ambition, women entrepreneurs, leadership, and ,of course, a little fondue. Let’s get started!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The word “power” is often seen in a negative light. However, to change the status quo, power is essential. According to sociologists Manuel Castells and Richard Emerson, power is defined as “the ability to influence a person or group through persuasion or coercion. \u00bb Let’s imagine a lion tamer, using a whip to make her beasts obey. This is an example of coercive power, where fear, manipulation, and pain are the means to an end. Conversely, persuading a boss to buy a new coffee machine by emphasizing the benefits of informal discussions around it is an act of persuasion. It’s painless and just as effective.\u00a0 In 2024 let’s move towards that!<\/p>\n

High Impact<\/b><\/p>\n

As an entrepreneur, embodying leadership means knowing how to transmit a clear vision to rally a team around an ambitious project. Convince partners to sign new agreements by demonstrating integrity and empathy. Negotiate a show tour in Switzerland by highlighting the ability to adapt our performances. Quite the challenge!\u00a0 Believe me, mobilizing a team for a 9-month caravan tour in the Alps and convincing the artists that it will be an unforgettable experience requires exceptional persuasion. To export Quebec talent to Switzerland, you need the power to positively influence the right people, at the right time. This is how we shine beyond our borders.<\/p>\n

Constant Challenge<\/b><\/p>\n

Despite the growing popularity of female leadership, women in positions of power continue to face greater stereotypes and prejudice than their male counterparts. Studies, such as those conducted by psychologist Madeleine Heilmann, as well as my 20 years of experience as an international business leader, bear witness to this. Whether managing artists from Eastern Europe or negotiating with partners from southern Italy, stereotypes persist. It is therefore essential to celebrate women in positions of power and to deconstruct these preconceived ideas, even here!<\/p>\n

Ambitious Edition<\/b><\/p>\n

This is why our new edition of Info Suisse, “Women of Influence”, puts the spotlight on inspiring women who are positively transforming their environment, creating impact. Over the coming months, you will discover inspiring stories from our members and business leaders who are reinventing practices both in Switzerland and Quebec.<\/p>\n

Coming together this fall<\/b><\/p>\n

We are fortunate to benefit from a valuable collaboration with the consulate, which continues over time. Thanks to women like Line Leon-Pernet and the new consul Anne-B\u00e9atrice Bullinger, we continue to facilitate trade between our two countries. During an exclusive event at the Ritz Carlton, made possible thanks to Alfid Immobilier, we celebrated the transfer of consular power. Line, thank you for these four wonderful years. Anne-B\u00e9atrice, herzlich willkommen!<\/p>\n

Join us in October for a panel discussion on the issues and impacts of the American elections on local businesses. Four female leaders in their fields will share their knowledge on the subject. This event will be held on October 22nd at CEIM and will be hosted by Mona Lisa. Thank you to our partners, without whom these events would not be possible.<\/p>\n

An ecstatic beginning<\/b><\/p>\n

I would like to thank all members for the trust you have placed in me by appointing me president. It is an honor to represent this chamber alongside you. I’m proud of our fall edition, which highlights entrepreneurial courage and these women who are changing the world with strength, determination and passion, and all without a whip!<\/p>\n
