A word from the Chairman – May 2024

Dear members and partners of the Swiss-Canadian Chamber of Commerce,

As my tenure as president of this remarkable institution draws to a close, I feel both a profound sense of gratitude and great anticipation for the future. Over these past years, we have worked together to strengthen the economic ties between our two nations, exploring new opportunities and overcoming challenges with resilience and determination.

Approaching the end of this chapter, I am inspired by the central theme that has marked my tenure: artificial intelligence. This dynamic and ever-evolving field has shaped our economies, industries, and societies in profound and often unexpected ways. Switzerland and Canada, with their commitment to innovation and leadership in many sectors, are at the forefront of this technological revolution.

Artificial intelligence offers unprecedented opportunities to enhance efficiency, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for our citizens. By fostering collaboration between our businesses and investing in research and development, we can harness the full potential of AI to address the most pressing challenges of our time, whether it be combating climate change, digital transformation, or promoting health and well-being.

As the Canadian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, we have a crucial role to play in promoting an ethical and responsible approach to AI, ensuring that its benefits are shared equitably and its risks are appropriately mitigated. By closely collaborating with our governments and industry partners, we can shape a future where AI is a driver of sustainable and inclusive progress.

As I step down from my role as president, I want to thank each and every one of you for your commitment and support throughout this exciting period. Together, we have built bridges between our nations and laid the groundwork for even more fruitful future cooperation. I am confident that under the leadership of my successor, the Canadian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce will continue to be a catalyst for innovation, growth, and prosperity for both of our countries.

Thank you.

Warm regards,

Frédéric Bossart – President of the Swiss-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (Quebec)
