ABB wins gold at the Grands Prix du Design

Zürich/Montreal – ABB has secured a Gold Certification for its architectural emergency lighting units at the Grands Prix du Design in Montreal. The surface-mount lighting units are characterized by optimized optical performance and flexible installation options.

(CONNECT) The surface-mount architectural emergency lighting units developed by ABB have been awarded a Gold Certification in the Indoor Lighting Fixture category at the 19th edition of the Grands Prix du Design Awards in Montreal, Canada. According to a statement, the lighting units are available in the LSAU/LSAUR, RSAU/RSAUR and ESAU/ESAUR series and are designed for installation across a range of commercial and institutional settings. As a renowned design award, the Grands Prix du Design recognize exceptional achievements in the fields of architecture, product design, lighting, interior design, construction and related disciplines. With its Gold Certification, ABB’s emergency lighting solution is also among the finalists for the “Grand Winner” title, which will be announced on October 8 at the Grands Prix du Design Gala in Montreal.

“Emergency lighting should keep people safe while also fitting in with a building’s architecture”, explains Fabio Mercurio, Business Line Leader for Emergency Lighting at ABB Electrification. He goes on to state that the Gold Certification is testament to the “expertise and innovation” of the team in Canada.

The emergency lighting units are equipped with four LEDs each, which facilitates uniform illumination over distances of up to 25 meters. Thanks to a predefined optical design, the lights do not need to be manually aimed, thereby minimizing the risk of misalignment. These compact, low-profile lights can be mounted directly onto a standard ceiling junction box and are also compatible with recessed, surface-mounted and suspended installation options.

The LSAU, RSAU and ESAU series models feature a protected lithium battery that ensures an emergency lighting runtime of at least 90 minutes. In contrast, the LSAUR, RSAUR and ESAUR series models are remote fixtures compatible with central emergency power systems, as ABB writes in the statement.
